Evidence for King Omri?
In an interesting blog post, Joe Cathey sites three pieces of evidence for the existence of Omri (apart from the Hebrew Bible):
1. The Black Obelisk of Shalmaneser ca. 828 BCE 2. The Kurkh Monolith of Shalmaneser ca. 853-2 BCE. 3. The Moabite Stone ca. 840 BCE. I am aware of challenges to the authenticity of the Moabite Stone. Has the authenticity of the first two ever been questioned? Stephen |

The evidence for Omri is not new and not seen as controversial in the scholarly world, as far as I know. I don't see why anyone would, or how anyone could, challenge the Shalmaneser inscriptions.
