In recent years I came across the Bible code, this was a study to show how all recent events could be extracted from the Bible using a code. It was not long after this it was shown that Moby Dick could be used in the same way. Thank God someone came along to show us some reason. If only someone could show all of us that the Bible is just a collection of fairy tales, that day will come, Im sure it will.

The Bible IS a collection of fairy tales, except for the portions that are verifiable by independently corroborating historical/archaeological evidence.

IOW, Parts of the OT that deal with Jewish history are factual, and probably very little of the NT is factual.

What I've usually heard is an apologetic that goes along the lines of everything that you need to know is in the Bible, or that the Bible is a reference for all matters. It still seems to be understood fairly the same way.
