Default Jesus never existed

As I stated in my profile, I am a bedraggled refugee from the "Holy" Roman Catholic Church. As a member of the Church I learned next to nothing about Christianity. You are told what to believe and NOT QUESTION. .

I have been researching the origin of Judeo/Christianity and found that most of it comes from Egyptology with extra material from Babylonian, Sumerian and Assyrian Myths.
I recommend logging into this Web Site:

http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/fabrication.html

Two quotes from the first page:

'The Jesus of the Gospels is an artificial creation, a collective work of art who evolved through the combined consciousness of two generations of Christian worship.'

– A. N. Wilson (Paul, p144)

No Evidence
''Whether Jesus ever actually existed has long been debated. The argument (very well documented) is that there is absolutely no corroborating evidence of his existence in documents other than highly suspect Christian sources.'

– Riane Eisler (The Chalice & the Blade, p122)

There are numerous examples in Egpyology of Christianity being copied from Egypt Myths. E.G. Jesus is Horus, "Virgin Mary is Isis" The famous paintings of the Madonna and Child are copied from a statue of Isis with Baby Horus,

The Ten Commandments are copied from the 42 confessions set out in the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

The BIblical God: YWYH

The Hebrew Spoken Name for God is Adhonai. In writing it is YWYH, yet this tetragrammaton is always pronounced as Adhonai. It is the plural of Adhon, which in Greek translates as Adonis with the usual meaning of 'The Lord'.

In Egyptian, Adhon means Aten, the God of the Heretic King Akhenaten.

Akhenaten was the Rebel pharoah who abolished all the Egyptian Gods except Aten.

The next Pharoah, Tutahkhamen had all the Gods reinstated.

Moses never exdisted and the Exodus never happened. Genesis states that 602,000 adult man Hebrews with women and children, numbering in total 2 million crossed the Red Sea. "Red Sea is a mistranslation. It is the Sea of Reeds which is north East of the Nile Delta and is a shallow tidal basin and when the tide goes out it is dry.

Archaeologists have been digging in the Sinai Desert since 1910 and found no evidence of 2 million people wandering there for 40 years. In fact, the population of Egypt at that time was only about 2 million.

The Bible is fiction.

The Bible God is YHWH. That is because there were no vowels in the Hebrew language. YHWH is an abreviation for "YAHWEH". Also, some Jews believed saying God's name out loud was considered blasphemy.

According to the Bible, Yahweh is the personal name of the one true God who delivered Israel from Egypt and gave the Ten Commandments, "Then God spoke all these words. He said, ‘I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you lived as slaves. You shall have no other gods to rival me.’” Yahweh revealed himself to Israel as a jealous God who would not permit his people to make idols or follow gods of other nations or worship gods known by other names, "I am Yahweh, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, or my praise to idols." Yahweh demanded the role of the one true God in the hearts and minds of Israel, "Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is one: and you shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might."

יהוה is composed of four Hebrew consonants, and it occurs 6,828 times in the approved consonantal Hebrew text of the Bible.

No concrete evidence, just that nothing in the bible is really original.

Adonai (note there is no "h") is not plural. It literally means "my lord" (see Gen 18:3 for a clear example), Adon indicating "lord".

No, it doesn't mean "Aten". And there is a vast time gap between the time of Akhnaten and the writing of the biblical literature.

On the subject of Jesus never having existed there has been a lot of debate and there are very entrenched views, but given the lack of evidence I don't see how anyone can be definite either way. Can you tell me if King Arthur existed or not? What about Robin Hood? You don't need to decide, especially when there is insufficient evidence for a reasoned decision.

Here because of insufficient evidence you'll find all sorts of weird and wonderful rationales to allow the committed pundit to take a side. If you're not a believer in christianity, there is no reason to be forced into deciding when there is insufficient evidence.

Gday,

Jesus didn't exist?
Hmm, that's a fascinating new idea that's never come up before.

But, you know - I think you're right.
Yup, Jesus was a myth.

OK. Fair enough but it would be nice to really know:

(1) Who was the author(s) of the new testament canon?
(2) When was the new testament canon authored?

Any ideas?
