Default metacrock, interesting guy, site on historical Jesus

I recently ran into this guy named metacrock over on another site, and checked out his website about the historical Jesus.http://www.geocities.com/metacrock20...us_index2.html Well, the other site (athiest site) kind of went ballistic on him, but I found him to be quite an interesting fellow with a lot of interesting ideas on his website as well as in that discussion. Anyway, I did some searches here and see he is well known among some, having been here in the past, and banned also for apparantly for saying some things that were deemed inappropriate at the time..

I hope he is allowed back at some point because he seems quite bright. (Of course, maybe I'm not bright enough to know for sure)..

Metacrock was banned here at one point for bad behavior, then came back, but kept losing arguments. He finally decided that he was just not very good at this internet debate thing, and would withdraw. I don't think he wants to come back, but he could if he wanted to.

You can find a lot of threads where his website on the HJ was ripped to shreds.

His theology was fairly interesting and fairly liberal, but he acted like a fundamentalist on the HJ issue.

And I see he now has a blog: http://metacrock.blogspot.com/

The one thread I did skim was Jesus variants, which Peter Kirby began in response to metacrock. While Peter was praised, and of course deserved it, I thought meta made some good points about the overall picture not being rocked much by what Peter said. I also read some other site in which he said he just didn't have the time to do some of his arguments justice.. Maybe I'll check out some of the threads on the his HJ. I don't see many sites that summarize evidence for the HJ, so his caught my eye..

I know it's not nice and not fair, but I have to be completely honest.

His spelling and grammar used to piss me off. Man, I used to get so frustrated debating that guy. And I would go around and around the block with him, too, just pissing myself off even more.

He had some genuinely interesting ideas, but I think the language barrier was what killed so many of his debates. I mean, we just couldn't understand the poor guy.

A shame, really.

He is dyslexic (sp? ).. Ok, I hope this doesn't continue too long or I'll feel like we are talking a bit too much behind his back..

If you can't move the topic towards Biblical Criticism or History, this thread will be moved.

This thread has no redeeming social value - it is just free and undeserved advertising for Metacrock's site, after he flubbed in his efforts to defend his ideas here in person.
