Default Looking for some info..

Greetings,

I was wondering if anybody knew any reliable source that deals with the claims that Christianity was either one of the Grecko-Romanian mystery religions or one of the dying-and-rising god cults that as far as I know were prevalent in the day.

Has this claim being debunked already or is there still some mainstream scholarship that advances it?

As a side question, what is the prevaling opinion about the authenticy of Luke's interviews to the eye witnesses as he states in his Gospel?

And a last one, what are the fatcs both pro or against the authoriship of the Gospel of Matthew and John by the authors the same name? Are they annonymous?

Thank in advance,
Valz

Mainstream scholarship has tended to shy away from it. But check out this thread for the latest book.

Luke does not claim to have interviewed eye witnesses.

Quote:
1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled[a] among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
He claims that there were eyewitnesses who handed down stories, and that he has investigated things.

If he had interviewed eyewitnesses, it would be hard to explain why he borrowed so much from Mark.

They are anonymous. Matthew and John were assigned authorship well after they were written.
