Which Joseph? :huh: I have a feeling that you are really asking about Jesus' genealogy, and whether Jesus' father Joseph's father was Heli (Luke 3:23) or Jacob (Matthew 1:16). Search "Heli" in the archives, and you get previous threads about this topic.

If we read Matthew it seems that Jacob is Josephs father but according to Luke Heli is Josephs father.
The only solution I have ever seen that makes any sense whatsoever is that matthew's gospel was written in Aramaic/Hebrew and that when it was translated into greek the translation was bit sloppy. The idea is that both marys husband and father were both named Joseph and thus the greek translator thought they were the same person. This article explains this particular idea.
