Default Mount Sinai location

The claims made in this article showed up in this month's "Illustrerad Vetenskap", a Swedish popular science magazine:

http://www.bibleinterp.com/articles/...ount_Sinai.htm

I think I'm not competent enough to comment on the validity of these claims. Any biblical archaeology experts here?

The name is different, but the "markers" the author uses to identify his Mt. Sinai sound suspiciously like that used by Cornuke and Wyatt for Jebel al Lawz. Is it the same mountain?

I haven't got a clue, but maybe someone else do. But if so, I'm getting very suspicious; Ron Wyatt doesn't seem to be a top archaeologist, so to speak.

ETA: Not to say I'm not already suspicous, though.

"Reports of Ron Wyatt fraudery are greatly exaggerated." (Mark Twain takeoff). In fact, most who worked with him report he lived a life of integrity, he has a wealth of fascinating archealogical involvement, and his enemies have to strain and grunt to come up with accusations.

Even for just the Sinai re-discovery alone, Ron would, in a fair archaelogical world, be considered a prime candidate for the biblical archaelogist of the 20th century. Occasionally even his opponents and usurpers give him gruding acknowledgment for the depth of those discoveries. I believe Fasold has such an acknowledgment of his pioneering work, and Hershel Shanks has a quote that it is the primary site for consideration. There is an incredibly excellent book out by Lennart Muller, as well. I tried to continue my dialog with Farrell on the Exodus issues (would there be enough time for the Israelites to get to Aqaba per the Tanach account) however his propensity to filtering arose. So it would be great to go back into that here, or somewhere. (Not that I claim to be any expert, however most of the issues are not that complicated.) That discussion was vis a vis the literal Tanach account, overall a little research shows that the Exodus scenario of Ron's has many excellent evidences.

btw, the website on the top of this thread, afaik, has nothing to do with Mount Sinai in Arabia, Jebel-el-lawz, the Aqaba crossing and the Ron Wyatt scenario.

For anyone wondering about Wyatt, I recommend http://www.isitso.org/guide/wyatt.html

Pro Wyatt sites can also be googled. He was a fascinating individual, though there is little evidence he contributed anything substantial to the field of archaeology. His legacy is a profit making institution q.v.

uhm, none of those people you mentioned who give Ron some praise are degreed archeologists. Maybe you consider a fair archeological world, one in which there are no degreed archeologists?

David Fasold worked with Wyatt for a time, I'm not aware that he has any degree whatsoever. He worked as a marine salvor in Florida. He certainly wouldn't have wanted to claim Wyatt was a crackpot, as it would by definition make him one as well.

Shanks has integrity problems, and his degrees are in English and Sociology and Law, and worked as a full time lawyer from 56-87.

Dr. Lennart Moller's degrees are in Biology(genetics) and that is the field he does work in, and is a Ryan Wyatt follower.

When the undegreed labourers surpass the degreed ones, then we should call a spade a spade and dig up the dirt :-) (snip Fasold.. the point was simply honestly giving Ron credit on Sinai, even while Fasold was promoting alternate theories.)

Sure, but basically irrelevant to his making a factual statement about the contenders for Sinai, where he has no known interest whatsoever, and his magazine is basically Wyatt-free.
