Why Atheists Dislike Christianity
Why Atheists Dislike Christianity
By Amin Emilio Aun Joven I was once an atheist.... Now I'm a Christian. Now having been an atheist and a Christian, I have a unique perspective on what atheists have thought their entire lives.... Many people who have never before been introduced to Jesus Christ, Christianity, or any other type of God are sometimes embarrassed by the approaches and likewise offending reproaches of Christians whose sole goal is to convert you to their denomination, and otherwise to damn you if they cannot. This has thus alienated some people from accepting any type of God. The problem of why atheists dislike the Christian religion, or for that matter, any monotheistic religion that speaks of Jesus, is that they sometimes have problems with not just the people, but the laws of such religions. However, there are misconceptions of what constitutes real Christian doctrine and applied Christian doctrine (or possibly, false Christian doctrine, but more on that later). Belief in a rule is not the same as applying it first hand to real life situations, there are ALWAYS extenuating circumstances. I know one thing that I want all of you to know before you continue reading. God is not an idiot, and neither does he want you to be when you interpret and apply his laws. I'm also going to suggest a controversial idea to any Christians who may be reading this: is it possible that God can lie, and that not everything in the bible is meant to be interpreted literally? If you don't want to entertain this idea then you'd as best not read the rest of my reply, because I will be quoting material from the Gnostic Gospels, books that were not placed in the Bible because they were too controversial at the time of its creation. Christ contradicted some of the doctrines spoken of in the old testament if you bother to read the gospels: "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' (Leviticus 19:18) But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. That you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? and if you greet your brethren only what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? -Matthew 5:43-47 Or this one: "You have heard it that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' (Exodus 21:24) But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also." Obviously Jesus DIDN'T agree with everything in the old Testament and he's the Son of God! Why is there such a difference in what was spoken to Moses and what Jesus was probably taught during his upbringing by God? Because these two followers and the eras in which they lived in carried with them different types of people. Throughout history mankind has evolved not only in technology but in intellect and emotional reasoning. God has had to give simple rules that people could follow that people of each era would respect and obey. The people that lived in the time of Moses were much more primitive and stubborn to laws than the people who lived in the time of Christ, and much, much more primitive than the people of today. God had to give doctrines so that they would be obeyed, and that's assuming that everything that has been spoken was from him or an angel he sent from Heaven to the prophets, and not an angel of Sakla or Sakla himself (the Devil and Satan as he is called in the Gnostic Gospels). According to the Gnostic Gospels, (The Secret Book of John, The Holy Book of the Great Invisible Spirit) Sakla was created by accident and existed in heaven for some time before he was cast down to the earth, created this universe, AND was himself responsible (not the Holy Spirit) for the flood which nearly wiped out mankind. According to these Gospels, God was the one that warned Noah about Sakla's plans to destroy humanity and made him hide in a cave high up in a mountain with the rest of God's people (there was no ark), and was himself responsible for coercing Adam and Eve to eat of the fruit of tree of knowledge, because every other tree in the garden created for them (by Sakla and his angels!) was laced with poison fruit! These gospels contradict the book of Genesis outright, meaning that the only conclusion that I can draw from this aside from the fact that the Devil has been pretending to be God when speaking to people through his angels and establishing absurd doctrines is that God has lied to humanity to keep us all ignorant of the state of things in heaven, up until such a time as when Christ will reveal the truth to us. The point is this, God doesn't want you to not think. Far from it, God expects you to whole-heartedly think for yourselves. This is the principle of Gnostic Christianity, that you save yourself by way of self-discovery and knowledge. If you assume this to be true, then not even Jesus Christ himself can apply the two doctrines as stated above at all times. What if in not denying the Antichrist, the chief enemy of the Holy Spirit on Earth next to the Devil and the False Prophet, Christ lost the war of Armageddon for interpreting his rules too literally! You cannot in good conscience love your enemy while they are trying to kill you. Then again there is an exception even to what I just said. What if your enemy is your very own children, your wife, your parents, That's why in the Gospel of Thomas (that's a Gnostic Gospel by the way) Christ said whoever does not hate his mother and father cannot be my disciple, and whoever does not love his mother and father cannot be my disciple. Now I do agree with some of the opinions expressed by atheists about the attitudes expressed towards them by "real" Christians. But I tell you that those people are more in danger of Hell than you are: "But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire." - Matthew 5:22 Jesus himself stated that whoever does the will of God is his brother and sister and mother (Matthew 12:50). What if you were born in a time before Christianity, before Judiasm, and Islam existed, but you preached good moral values to your children and were a good servent to the people of your time ("...but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant." - Matthew 20:26 ) Would not this person be worthy of the resurrection regardless of whether or not he had known of a God? Do you think God is an unintelligent being and would forsake all those virtuous souls that came before the inception of Christianity? I am sure if Christ were alive today, at this very moment, he would rather accept a person a person into God's kingdom who didn't believe in the "religion" of Christianity, but rather a person who would be willing to LISTEN to his explanations about the mysteries of God, so that they may be saved by believing in the truths that he gives them. Religion is not inherently evil, it is the Devil (and the anti-religion of Satanism) who has manipulated the religions of the earth, including Judiasm, Islam, AND Christianity to his own ends, to turn family members against one another and to service God by making as many as possible saints and martyrs of God, because even though he may think he's running the show, it's the Holy Spirit who is in the end pulling the Devil's strings. That is why many who say that people who do not believe in this religion or that religion are accused of being heathens, when in fact it is they who are in danger of Hell, because they do not listen to what Jesus said, they listen to what the Old Testament says. The Old Testament and New Testament are two different things. The laws of the Old Testament are what some of these "real" Christians are following, when they should be following only what's in the New Testament, and only some choice selections from the Old Testament. What Jesus said is more true and real than what any other prophet said in the Old Testament, because what he said was truth not just because he was a prophet, but a god. On the other hand what was spoken by the prophets of the Old Testament were from ordinary men that did not understand God to the same extent and with the same wisdom as Jesus did, and thus could easily have been deceived into accepting false doctrines from a false god such as Sakla and his angels. Also, some Atheists make their dislike of Christians and Christianity in general on the basis of the famous ten commandments, when Jesus himself has broken and WILL contradict these commandments to ensure that the will of God is carried out! He broke the fourth commandment of not working on the Sabbath by healing the sick and dying on the Sabbath! something that was forbidden at the time by the Pharisees. He's going to break the 6th commandment about not murdering anyone when he fights in the battle of Armageddon when he slays the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and the Devil, as well as all of the Devil's children born of his seed after the sign of Jonah with his "sword". AND he's going to break the 7th commandment because he's personally stated that he will be "coming as a thief..." in the Book of Revelations 16:15 Lets not forget the 5th commandment about honoring your father and mother. Do you think an intelligent God would want you respecting your family's wishes if they were evil, or if they didn't have your best interest in hand? That may have been stated the way it was because children during that era when the commandments were created, more times than not, DIDN'T respect their parents wishes even when they had their best interests in mind. You cannot apply the rules used in the old testament literally and strictly to every single situation. Obviously if God has given you proof of such a thing by way of his actions and speech, you should also take it as proof also to THINK before you act. If there is anything that I find despicable about Christianity myself, it is people pretending to be Christians who are actually children of the Devil and Satanists in disguise, and likewise those who are Pharisees who hold on to a narrow interpretation of God and embrace the old instead of accepting the new. In order for God's will to be carried out, sometimes you have to break the rules to get things done. Christ has shown us that time and time again in the Gospels, and WILL show it to us again once he's publically revealed during the sign of Jonah. Now lets look at some cold hard proof of Sakla's interference with the Jews.... Compare this: Exodus 20:5 - "For I, the Lord your God, am jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me..." with this which pertains to Sakla: "He is wicked in the mindlessness within him. He said, 'I am God and there is no other God beside me,' since he did not know from where his own strength had come." (The Secret book of John) and finally.... "After the world was founded, Sakla said to his angels, 'I am a jealous god, and nothing has come into being apart from me.' He felt certain of his nature."[/B] (The Holy Book of the Great Invisible Spirit) However, in Ezekiel 18:20, God retracts what was stated in Exodus 20:5... "The soul that sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son." If God is an enlightened being, do you think it is more plausible to assume that the Holy Spirit mucked up his instructions to his followers time and time and time and time again?..... or that the Devil had been trying to pass off his own laws as those of the Holy Spirit's while he was in Heaven before he was cast down to the Earth? I leave the rest to you. Personally I would take some of the things written in the Old Testament with a grain of salt, and listen more to the New Testament, that is, if you want to judge the whole of Christianity and Christians. Is this something that you would like to discuss, or are you just posting it in an attempt to preach at us?
If you'd like to discuss it, could you please tell us what you think about it? In your own words? Thanks! |

As for the thread title: Christianity is by no means unique, or even special, in that respect .

Its something I would like to discuss with everyone.
Personally, like the last two paragraphs state, I think the Holy Spirit was protecting us from the horrible truth by lying about Satan's interference in the Bible. Any thoughts? |

These last two paragraphs?

OK, here is my judgment: it is immoral to punish an innocent person for the crimes (sins) of others. |

Is this something that you wrote yourself? Are you Amin Emilio Aun Joven? If not, could you tell us where you cut and pasted it from?

Ahhhhhh - so the Devil did it! The Bible is a confusing, self contradictory, piece of literature because an all powerfull God was not powerful enough to stop the Devil from corrupting it. It all makes sense now.

There are simply too many things wrong in the OP for me to take the time to point them all out. Almost any type of error I can think of has been presented in the above text: strawmen, poisoning the well, simple literary understanding, logic flaws, and on and on.
I would propose that it be understood that most atheists do not judge Christianity and Christians based on the OT or the NT, but rather on their actions, now and throughout history. Their book has very little to do with our judgment. Julian |

Switching from atheism to theism does not determine the existence of a God, just like switching from Osiris to Apollo. When I read your post, I get the impression that your are a theist because you now believe that the Devil is extremely powerful. |
