I find it quite ironic that the title for this thread is "Truth can be found by searching" when it's obvious he's done no such thing. Haven't browsed these forums since last week, looks like I missed all the fun :rolling:

Umm, this is just silly. Using your flawed logic, then roaches, rats, mice and rabbits could not have existed, say, five years ago or less, or the Earth would be covered with the critters halfway to the moon by now.

PetriFB, I've read many books written by christians as well as the Bible in its entirety many times. In addition I was a dogmatic, conservative fundamentalist preacher for over 8 years. I believed all this nonsense for many years myself.

Eventually I began to realize that I was defending a bunch of lies. I spent entirely too much time apologizing for God and rationalizing things that were difficult to reconcile. I decided that I had little to fear by open-mindedly studying the facts. Once I conscientiously forced myself to quit trying to prove a point and just look at the facts the clear and inescapable conclusion was as easy to spot as a tarantuala sitting on my keyboard. The bible is a myth. It is nothing more than a collection of superstitions glued together and smoothed over by inaccurate but well-meaning scribes for centuries. The bible's day has passed as the ancient mythological gods of the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and Babylonians did. Science continues to expose the pre-technology flaws in the world-views expressed in it to the point of ridicule on a daily basis.

People can continue believing in the Bible and YEC literalism if they want to. But the same "God" who went to all the trouble of providing star light from stars millions of light years away in order to make the cosmos have an "old" look to it would have been too clever to leave evidence of a young earth laying around such as you're trying to posit.

C'mon over to the dark side my boy. Resistance is futile.

A previous poster back on page 1 (I think) responded to a point by the original poster with "all your base are belong to us", a reference to a badly translated video game. This struck me as possibly the most succinct way of describing the entire fundamentalist position.
