Question is jehovah an elohim?

Parts of genesis can be interpited as saying god is a member of a species called elohim, and jehovah is his personal name.Is this all a misunderstanding by me?If not is satan also an elohim?Where do elohims come from?any clues??

All of genesis can be interpreted as bronze age myth, like the greek pantheon myths and the vedic myths.

Unless something comes along (and it hasn't yet) to show that genesis is more than bronze age myth, in the face of all the evidence in favour of a very old earth on which which mankind was produced by evolutionary processes, then I'd suggest not reading too much into genesis.

Are you thinking of "elohim" as a species of alien, as the Raelians do?

Default not saying specifically space alien

It seems possible, but Ive never seen evidence of alien visitation, and Ive read numerous books on this and discussed it with true believers in the matter.Im just suggesting that is what it sounds like the bible is saying.Ive heard of raelians before but right off cant recall their beliefs.Ill check it out and see what i think.

The reason I was asking is that the Raelians do use "Elohim" to refer to a race of aliens, and your idea that "elohim" was a member of a species seemed to suggest that you were working from the Raelians' ideas.

More than bronze age myth? What do you mean by that? I have, if not evidence, then good reason to assume "all of Genesis" to be late iron age stories, though with some inspiration from older stuff, but certainly iron age.

The Raelians based their ideas on the OT, and it doesn't really take much to read their ideas from Genesis. Genesis 1 uses the word "Elohim" for God, and it's technically a plural word meaning "powers", but when used for God it takes verbs in singular, so it's to be thought of as a single entity. Genesis 2 uses the term "Yahweh Elohim", and since Hebrew indicates genitiv by juxtaposition, this can be translated to "Yahweh of Elohim" - as if Yahweh (Jehovah) was a member of the Elohim, most reasonably their leader. Compare to "Yahweh Zebaot" = "Lord of Hosts", as it is mostly translated to. Also God lives in heaven and occasionally moves back and forth from earth to heaven, and so on. But Raelianism is more based on theosophism and ufoism than actually the Bible, imho.

There's a short description of Raelianism for those interedted here:
