Marginal Jew: John P. Meier series
I have been studying the (currently) 3 volume series on the historical Jesus written by John P. Meier. In my opinion, he seems pretty thorough and balanced in his scholarship. Anyone have any comments or critiques on his work?

My local library carries volumes 1 and 3, but not volume 2.
So if I want to read the whole series I have to buy the second book. |

Libraries in my area participate in an inter-library loan program, so if they don't have a title they can get it from a different library.
I've thought about buying the whole set. Looks like a good reference to have. |

I finished reading through vol. 1 a few weeks ago and I thought it was pretty good. Definitely a good reference to have. Meier seems very fair, balanced, and thorough. I'll probably pick up a copy of volume 2 sometime soon.
