Default New book by Robert Price "The Case Against the Case for Christ"

The book is not currently on Amazon. A signed copy can be purchased on Price's website here.

. . . It is fair to say that all of Strobel's books are long exercises in applying the fallacy of informal logic known as 'The appeal to authority.' Originally published in 1998, The Case For Christ has now bamboozled and hornswoggled the better part of a generation of Americans. Something needed to be done!

New Testament scholar Robert M. Price, one of America's leading authorities on the Bible, has taken umbrage at the cavalier manner in which Strobel has misrepresented his field of study and won't take it any longer. Because Strobel has drawn upon the best-known and prolific apologists alive today and brought their arguments together for easy reading, Dr. Price has seized the opportunity to wipe out the entire field of Christian apologetics in the course of refuting Lee Strobel. . . .

Price's upcoming works
Quote:
Sarah L. Covert: Do you have any upcoming projects, news or sarcastic comments to share with our readers?

Robert M. Price: My five-volume set of Lovecraft is finally on the horizon. In it I have a long intro to each book, and then a shorter essay to introduce each story and poem. I have three new Chaosium anthologies coming out pretty soon, plus a couple from Mythos Books and one from Hippocampus Press. In the field of religious criticism, watch out for my soon-upcoming The Case Against “The Case for Christ”: A New Testament Scholar Refutes Lee Strobel and, in April, 2011, my Paul book, The Amazing Colossal Apostle. I am also planning to release a bunch of shorter books through Amazon, including Biblical Buddhism, Paul: the Lost Epistles, Jesus Aquarius: A Commentary on The Aquarian Gospel and The Politically Correct Bible. I got a million of ‘em

The chapter entitled "The identity crisis : did Jesus memorize the Nicene creed? looks as though it could be interesting. I like Price's approach to all the spectrum of opinions on the question of Jesus as historical (HJ) or mythical (MJ) or indeed utterly fictional "FJ).

At least he is prepared to list out within all the possibilities for "Christian Origins" and various "Types of Jesus" the "worst case scenario" of "pious fraud". I think this is not only commendable, but honest. If he indeed has any preconceived notions he at least acknowledges all ideas without censorship.

That's a long way to go. :frown:

To explain the delay, Price told in an interview that his editor (the same as for The PreNicene NT) was rephrasing every sentence he wrote...
