Default Jewish and Greek Interpretation of 'Sozo'

Just so you all know, I am not going to be making a habit of this. Like my thread, discussing "hamartia", I'd like the Greek experts here to articulate the intended cultural perspectives regarding the word that is understood in English to be "Saved", but in the Greek, it is "sozo"...possibly if there was a political climate that serves as the best example of conveying the sentiment behind this term, etc.

swzw (save, keep safe, preserve, protect) is derived from swV (sos) which means "safe," "sound," "healthy."

I think that soso in the sense that it was used by the likes of Paul was probably intended to connote a preservation of life after the coming apocalypse (which Paul expected any day). Politically, there was a necessary inference that many would be destroyed, including enemies or alleged persecutors of Christians but Paul's use of the word was not political as such but apocalyptic. It was all about who was going to get to live forever and who was going to die...just as soon as Jesus put on his ass kicking boots and came back here....any day now.....any day now...[crickets]
