Ones that are pure cotton and not some blend.

HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA! . . . Ha! . . . heh . . . ha?

Welcome to the forums.

Anyways, should Magus ever consider discussing the texts rather than his personal theology, such discussions might actually remain in the BC&H forum.

Well, then there is no such thing as absolute morality!

According to the dictionary definitions, absolute means:

Perfect in quality or nature; complete.

and

Not limited by restrictions or exceptions; unconditional.

and

Unqualified in extent or degree; total.

and

Not to be doubted or questioned.

If there is absolute morality, then there is NOTHING which does not fall under such morality, and that morality DOES NOT CHANGE. Anything, anything shy of absolute morality is moral relativism, period.

Scriptural references to support this, please? I mean, the fact that incest happened during the time of the Patriarchs is not open to debate, but I don't recall reading any passage which referred to the gene pool! Perhaps you could share?

Hang on just a moment there, chief...the "universal" laws you speak of were not (according to the Bible) laid down until the time of Exodus.

So was murder okay before Jehovah did the whole burning bush trick with Moses?

No no no. Remember, it's ok to murder people so long as God tells you to. Apparently one of the missing 5 commandments (see History of the World Part One) was 'Do as I say, not as I do'. Then again, considering what God tells people to do... Can we just agree that the morality of the Judeo-Christian religion is incoherant and inconsistent?

It had a lot of chlorine in it, which explains people's behavior those days. God flushed out the gene pool with what is commonly known as "The Flood".

By the time of Leviticus, the gene pool had gotten corrupt enough

Gene Pool was dating Gene Roddenberry, and we all know how bad that sin is.

that incest could cause genetic defects,

How true - just watch TBN.

so it was outlawed. Standard laws change, just like they do in modern society. Universal laws don't change ( i.e don't murder).

Unless god is thirsty for blood, then it's open season.

There is some story from some ancient culture of a god that draws to figures in the dirt and cuts himself. The blood turns the two figures to life and so their brothers somehow. One creates some cool fish for everyone to eat by drawing a picture and cutting himself and tossing the thing in the sea and the other draws a shark and bleeds on it and tosses it in the sea. The god dude is happy with the first for providing a food source and angry with the second for creating something that will surely eat up said food source and anything else that gets in the water.

Anybody remeber where this myth comes from I can't find it presently but it reminds me an awful lot of the Cain and Able story.

Magus-baiting is frowned upon in ~Elsewhere~ just like it is everywhere else. Knock it off, folks.
