There is a wealth of info on Babylonia. I have heard it often said that the book of Revelations, is a book of prophecy.

Gerald,
Do you believe the Old Testment is truthful? If not, there is no need to read further. If so, who do YOU think the "Mystery" Babylon, is refering to? |

That being said, Mystery Babylon probably refers to the Roman Empire. Your type of exegesis, breaking the phrase apart and analyzing the words, doesn't work for the type of literature that Revelation is. Apocolyptic literature isn't written with that type of analysis in mind. Better to try to understand the motivations and background of the writer. |

Beanpie - why does the Nation of Islam believe in the Old Testament prophecies? I have met Nation of Islam followers who did defend this sort of prophesy, but I don't know what the basis for it is. Islam as far as I know does not claim that there are prophecies in its scriptures, and I did not realize that the Old Testament is part of Islam.

Gerald,
ALL Muslims believe the Bible is truthful but, there is proof, it has been tampered with and thus, distorted. see my post, Altering the Bible - part one. |
