Default "Mystery" Babylon - " MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATI

There is a wealth of info on Babylonia. I have heard it often said that the book of Revelations, is a book of prophecy.

Two questions, beanpie:

1. What are you smoking?

2. Where can I get some?

Gerald,

Do you believe the Old Testment is truthful?

If not, there is no need to read further.

If so, who do YOU think the "Mystery" Babylon, is refering to?

Actually, I think the whole Bible can be explained as the result of either malnutrition, ergotism, or both...

I hold with the position that all of the book of Revelation (there's no "s" at the end of the work) was coded messages to xians. Coded with OT symbolism that xian familiar with the OT would understand.

That being said, Mystery Babylon probably refers to the Roman Empire. Your type of exegesis, breaking the phrase apart and analyzing the words, doesn't work for the type of literature that Revelation is. Apocolyptic literature isn't written with that type of analysis in mind. Better to try to understand the motivations and background of the writer.

Beanpie - why does the Nation of Islam believe in the Old Testament prophecies? I have met Nation of Islam followers who did defend this sort of prophesy, but I don't know what the basis for it is. Islam as far as I know does not claim that there are prophecies in its scriptures, and I did not realize that the Old Testament is part of Islam.

it is VERY simple. if you don't believe the Bible is telling the truth, leave it alone. what is the necessity of your "opinion"?

Gerald,

ALL Muslims believe the Bible is truthful but, there is proof, it has been tampered with and thus, distorted.

see my post, Altering the Bible - part one.
