This thread seems to be the various authors of chapters in the book telling each other how good they look, etc. but they can't even find a friend to post a review on Amazon?

I am a bit concerned about the propriety of this thread in this forum.

AFAICT, "as handsome as he is intelligent" is a tongue-in-cheek allusion to a line in Midsommer Night's dream, which was something Queen Titania said about Nick Bottom.

But we still don't have any discussion of the content of this book, except for the comment that anyone who has followed the debates on this board will not find anything new of interest in it?

FWIW I tried to buy it in Birmingham (UK) today but it didn't seem to be in the bookshops (at least not yet).

If I do end up getting a copy I'll try and do some sort of review.

I've seen the allusion used in variations in a few places, but didn't know that one! But definitely tongue-in-cheek.

This could swing either way to the uninitiated, but having read your contribution I must admit that you are a handsome man.

Is Holding a 6 year old girl? Look at that cartoon avatar and that thing on the bottom about a "whuppin". What a freak.

Why do so many Christian sites look so babyish?

Early Doherty did not have much of importance to say on the subject, confining his scholarly work to an analysis of how much Janet and John used to run, and how much the cat liked to be in the hat.

Have you read much Later Doherty?

Note: Carrier has been notified about the availability of the book, and has expressed an interest in reading it.

While I agree that Doherty did not have much important to say on the subject, what he said was more involved than you suggest. I was not aware that we were defining Doherty's work by epoch. I do not know what counts as "Doherty," "Later Doherty," and "Much Later Doherty."
