Default Has anyone here read Timothy Jones' "Misquoting Truth"?

I'm almost finished Ehrman's book "Misquoting Jesus (or via: amazon.co.uk)". It's fantastic. I saw that Timothy Paul Jones, who I've never heard of, wrote "Misquoting Truth: A Guide to the Fallacies of Bart Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus" (or via: amazon.co.uk). I read reviews on it, and it looks like a load of crap, because it seems as if he tries to use "faith" to disprove
Ehrman, and doesn't rely on facts or trying to refute Ehrman's arguments with anything other then faith. Has anyone read this book? If it is at least an okay argument, that doesn't just rely on faith, I would like to buy it. I don't want to waste my money if it is just 100% crap. Has anyone read this book?

Check out the reviews on Amazon. He seems to have recruited some friends or fellow believers to write favorable reviews, but there are a few reviews by people who have read both books who point out that his scholarship does not match Ehrman's, and he does not in fact provide a list of errors in Ehrman's book.

Which will not stop the bible thumper crowd from embracing it fully. Since the early days of xtianity apologetics need not make sense....they merely have to exist to let the 'faithful' breathe easier.

I'm 3/4 of the way through Ehrman's book and it is fascinating reading.

I just bought "Lost Christianities" on amazon. It's also by Ehrman. Hs anyone else read this? I love his writing style in "Misquoting Jesus". I love how he explains everything in layman's terms.

Both books are very good. As is his Jesus: Apocalyptic Prophet of the New Millennium (or via: amazon.co.uk), which is an excellent introduction to what we can know about Jesus and which puts him firmly in the historical context of Jewish apocalyptic preaching. A good scholarly antidote to all that amateurish "Jesus Myth" nonsense.
