The YHWH story was written in reaction to the goddess religions being wiped out by patriarchal society.
The snake and trees (symbols of Her wisdom) were sacred to Her. Eve was not neccessarily built from a rib. Another reading is "side" implying the first human was an androgyne. The woman was shown as evil, as was Asherah seen by the Yahwists. |

Getting back to the topic, I think six days is not 24 hour ones anyway. I think the reality is probably some kind of undefined period of time, too long to mean anything to Moses, so he calls it a day. Maybe it's a mega-day, or God-day. Anyway it seems the "heavens were of old" and God kinda "lets" them happen. I know it might not specifically say "lets" but it does say "let the" quite a lot in Genesis. SO this showa us the nature of the Godhead, longsuffering and patient. Ofcourse, I could have painted my oil on canvas in a minute but I thought it would look better if I took my time.

Why didn't he just TELL everyone to take the Sabbath off? He certainly doesn't set an example for other things he commands. Setting an example rather than simply giving a direct order doesn't seem his style. Besides, no one was there to see it, right? So how was he setting an example? Was he doing it just so he could tell us he did it and not be lying? That seems silly to me. Of course, if this is what you believe, fine, but it still disagrees with scientific evidence...... well that's a topic for another forum |
