OK, I'll start. Tyre still exists and is still inhabited, so the prophecy in Ez 26 is false. And no amount of historical/textual hair splitting will change that HARD FACT.

If a God exists, there is no way that he wants people to believe that he can predict the future. If he did, he would already have made lots of indisputable predictions, such as when and where some natural disasters would occur. By "when," I mean month day, and year. If a God exists, and wants people to believe that he can predict the future, it would be counterproductive for him to inspire prophecies that invite dissent when he could easily inspire prophecies that discourage dissent. That would unnecessarily create doubt and confusion, and limit the number of people who accept him. A God who wanted people to believe that he can predict the future would not have anything to gain by refusing to make indisputable prophecies, and neither would anyone else. No reasonable motives = no God of the Bible.

Message to arnoldo: What evidence do you have that the Tyre prophecy was written before the events, and has not been revised?

I don't. I guess your right, Ezekiel was a false prophet or didn't even exist in the first place.

Sorry for the sarcasm, I will avoid it in the future. Anyway apparently the book of Ezekiel mentions Daniel by name. Any thoughts?

“…even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would save only their own lives by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign Lord.” Ezekiel 14:14.

Actually, there is a case to be made that that isn't referring to "Daniel" of Babylon, but rather a Dan'el (as Ezekiel spelled it), of a much earlier Jewish mythology that never made it into our modern Bible. Why would Ezekiel put his contemporary Daniel into the same catergory as Moses and Job? But I don't know much about that. I'm sure someone else does.

what does this have to do with Tyre?

Then why are you making posts in this thread? No rational person would accept the Tyre prophecy unless they had good evidence that it was written before the events, and has not been revised. If you do not have any evidence, are you suggesting that a moderator should close this thread because you do not have any evidence?

Are you saying that the prophecy was written after the fact & then the writer failed to make any revisions to the errors which allegedly happened when Nebby didn't completely destroy Tyre?

The name is also found at Ugarit in the form "Danel", ie "El is (my) judge".
