The ten commandments
Does anyone know when or why the Greek word decalog, which I understand to mean the "ten statements", was translated to the "ten commandments"? I have heard that in Hebrew they translate more procisely to the "utterances." Again, if this is true, why are they still referred to as "commandments"?
