I'd go with the one about how grasshoppers have 4 legs and pi = 3.

Where is the passage stating that grasshoppers have four legs? My favorite is god stopping the sun from revolving around the earth, to extend the day, in order to allow Joshua to continue slaughtering the heathens.

Dude, that day sucked. All of the sudden I was hurtlin' through the air at 1000 mph, splashed through a puddle of tar, a chicken farm, a cactus patch, landed in water that I thought would cool me off, it turned out to be a geyser, got burned by the volcanic heat, thrown high into the air, finally came to a stop, and the earth started moving again and all the stuff happened in reverse. What a day.

That passage says grasshoppers have six legs: four for walking (Lev 11:20) and two for jumping (Lev 11:21). Unless you mean that the walking legs were used also for jumping?

There is no indication that the jointed legs are in addition to the four legs referred to in the previous verse. What translation are you using?

Any translation you like. Is your view, then, that these passages are saying that the insects walk on four legs, of which two (or more) of those "walking legs" are jointed legs that are used for hopping?

Do you think that the grasshopper walks on four legs, when there are obviously 6 legs on the ground in your picture? I would think you would go with some translation error.

I believe that the Bible authors regarded the grasshopper as having four legs that they used for walking, and then some legs that were used for jumping. That's what the diagram I give up above shows as well: four walking legs, two jumping legs.

Nope, no need. Those passages are correct: some legs for walking, and some for jumping. We don't divide by function today, though, so we just talk about six legs.

What do you make of them talking about grasshoppers "walking on all fours" and also having jumping legs for hopping? Are they referring to the same set of legs, in your opinion?
