Default Adam and Eve

Okay, I am having trouble accepting the Adam and Eve story. I mean look, NO where in Genesis 2 or whatever does God say if Adam or Eve ate from the tree it would bring sin, all he did is say "You will die the day you eat it! (Which he died hundreds of years later)" so how come we got blamed?

Also, Adam and Eve did NOT know what evil, temptation, or anything was. I mean look, we didn't know what evil was so how is it our fault we chose that fruit? Some will say "Cause God told them not too." That's great and all, but how would they know that's a bad thing to disobey him, since we didn't know what "BAD" was..

Billions of people are going to hell because of a choice 3 people made (Michael aka Satan, Adam and Eve) Why would a God do this?!?!? If he is love how could he send billions to hell for the choice of 3 people?!!?!? That's like my father grounding me in my room til Im 18 cause my brother disobeyed him! What did I do to deserve this?! (And billions of others)

Also, God is not perfect because he made Adam and eve imperfect (If you are perfect you can't do or make anything imperfect) Most Christians will say we WERE perfect until Adam and Eve sinned, but, if we were perfect, how could we chose an imperfect decision!? (The fruit)

and my last question is - why was ALL sin kept in a fruit?

the whole story is just to make people obey their leader regardless of how stupid the rule.

Personally, I find the Garden of Eden story beautiful. Such a layered subtext, such symbolism, such a mystery. It brings up so many questions, and answers none of them. It's like a Cocteau film or a Lynch film. I think it's the greatest myth on record.

I dunno about beautiful, but it is a good story about the transition from the hunter-gatherer state of mankind to civilization.

That is; paradise was the lush jungle that existed in the area of Mesopatamia during the last glacial period of this ice age, and Adam and Eve represented humankind during that period.

Trouble is, the story got cause and effect all backwards. When the glaciers retreated, so did the rain patterns. So "Eden" dried out around Adam and Eve and they had to come up with ways of coping and adapting...... That is... start agriculture and animal husbandry. This new knowledge was A RESULT of being "cast out" of the garden... Not the Reason they were "cast out".

Further on down the line... we have Abel representing the shepherd/nomad and Cain representing the farmer.... and Cain slaying Abel representing the ultimate triumph of sedentary agriculture over nomadic animal husbandry.

Just some Ideas I got from reading Isaac Asimov's "take" on the Bible...that make too much sense to ignore

I find that the subtext of the Eden story is pretty much as follows: Knowledge is Bad, Ignorance is Good, Do what the Master says Or Else. I also love the whole misogynistic subtext.

Some people believe that the story of Adam and Eve is a metaphor for evolution. Prior to biting into the apple, Adam had no concept of right or wrong: he had no conscience. He didn't wear clothes. Once he bit the apple, he realized his nakedness and his immortality.

A question that I have always wondered regarding Adam and Eve: how is original sin passed on to the rest of us? Specifically, I wonder about a child born from a test tube or from a cloning process?

It reminds me of the story in Gilgamesh where he learns why he can never be immortal and must, as with all things, die.

No ones answering

I think Adam and Eve is a story to explain why there is evil in the world when they made their new religion - they didnt know about the flaws (Cause people were so stupid back then, they even thought rainbows were made for Gods promise!)
