Default A question for Christians

Why have so many religions been founded, and why do so many people follow them?

Calvinist: these other people were chosen to go to hell.
Lutheran: These other people were not chosen to go to heaven
Evangelical: These people still have a chance to turn to Jesus.
Baptist: Because these people are sinful, and they'll get what's coming to them.
Catholic: These people are just gunna have a couple extra millenia in purgatory.
Universalist: What's the problem, again?

I fall into the last category, primarily.
