Is Israel really the promised land?
Was Cannon really given to the Jews by God?

No.
First, it's Canaan, non Cannon. Then, second, there is no God. Or at least most moderns are confident that if there is a god, he or she has not made a special real estate deal with one small tribe of humans. The Jews made up the story as part of their founding mythology. It's no better or worse than Manifest Destiny or the Divine Rights of the British Empire, but it's still just a myth. |

The promised land
If God really loved the Jews and they were his his Chosen People why did He give them the only piece of Land that didn't have oil on it?

Why would the Jews feel so strongly about holding down that land? They even have open door to come here to America?

If in 10 million years time everyone including Jews are still around, then possibly because of population growth there might be so many Jews they won't all fit on the promised land.

My favorite quote about the so-called 'holy land' (from Celsus):
"Nor is it really likely that the Jews are God's chosen people and are loved more than other folk...as though they had been given some land set aside just for themselves. We can see what sort of land it is that God thought worthy of them (emphasis mine)!" |
