Default God's Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundations of Modern Science

Hi all,

I hope as a greybeard and old timer here, previously posting as Bede, I'll be forgiven a plug of my book.

It's called God's Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundations of Modern Science and deals with the many myths surrounding science in the Middle Ages (that the Church opposed it, thought the earth was flat, banned dissection and zero, burnt scientists etc). It also shows how the achievements of medieval science fed into the work of Copernicus, Kepler and Galileo.

Anyone interested in history of science or the relationship between science and religion should enjoy the book.

If you are in the UK, it's in your local Waterstones. The rest of the world can get it delivered free from The Book Depository.

Best wishes

James

I've not seen the book, but it seems to be an important one. James and friends have been blogging about these sorts of subjects at Quodlibeta for some time, and it's full of things that I didn't know myself but where it is clearly important to get the straight facts.

I'm hoping to take a look and review it. None of us need to have the wrong facts in our arguments.

All the best,

Roger Pearse

The wrong facts have never slowed down any apologists here before so why worry about it now?
