In Acts 1, Jesus ascends into Heaven via the sky.

Going upwards does not get you to Heaven.

Well, I guess I was mixing the ridicluous things the bible actually says with the ridiculous things people actually believe based on it. No, I don't think it says anywhere in the bible that men have one less rib. It does say, however, that Adam lived to the ripe old age of 930.

As found in the New American Bible, St. Joseph edition:

This model is used from Genesis right through to Revelation (the SAB's Science and History section lists the verses). In Revelation 6:14, "the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together", i.e. the Firmament is rolled up and removed.
