Default Who killed Jesus? MSNBC article

Due to copyright, here is the link. And I think I'll not be going to any more Mel Gibson movies either.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4212741/

What rotten luck. I'm on page three and MSN decides to drop me, along with hotmail and IM....those fargin iceholes...
At any rate, those who are interested, I'd like to see refute and/or review this article if they can. Sooner or later I'll be able to read the whole thing....I hope.

I know the pope's people are denying that he said anything about the movie.

I have always contended that it was a second Roman on the grassy knoll who actually killed jesus.

Yes, notice the position of the head:

In which case, the Christians both created and killed him

I have always questioned that "single nail theory."

Judas "kills himself" within three days of the execution . . . sure . . . he "hung himself" or he "exploded. . . ."

[From the article.--Ed.] Though countless believers take it as the immutable word of God, Scripture is not always a faithful record of historical events; the Bible is the product of human authors who were writing in particular times and places with particular points to make and visions to advance. And the roots of Christian anti-Semitism lie in overly literal readings?which are, in fact, misreadings?of many New Testament texts.
Well . . . that is refereshing from a "popular" newsource. Someone tell the nightly pundits.

Quote:
"So it's not singling them out and saying, 'They did it.' That's not so," Gibson told the Global Catholic Network in January. "We're all culpable. I don't want to lynch any Jews... I love them. I pray for them."
What a mensch. . . .

Now I remember why I hate their website with the ads and cookies. . . .

The two earliest and most reliable extra-Biblical references to Jesus?those of the historians Josephus and Tacitus?say Jesus was executed by Pilate.
OOOOPPSSS!!!! Makes a major mistake right there.

Anyways, it seems the writer is presenting the argument that the Romans, and only the Romans, had the ability to execute--crucify--people. Now a bad start for "popular" press but old news here.

Tacitus and Josephus are reliable references to Jesus now? Well that's it; they said it and I believe it. Please excuse me, I've got to go sell off this nice bridge...

I have NEVER seen or heard Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny or any of the others debunked/refuted on a tv show or in print news media. Since this is the only real "evidence" they can dig up to support a historical Jesus, I don't think it'll be happening any time soon.
