If you ignore a so-called guideline given by God, are you not still disobeying him? I know, back when I was living with my parents, if they gave me a "guideline" to follow and I blatantly ignored it, I was understood to have disobeyed them and would consequently be punished.
And the Catechism might work if you're a Roman Catholic (I have no idea; I've never read it) but it does nothing for the millions of Christians who have never even heard of it. How are these Christians to distinguish between orders and so-called guidelines? And please don't say the "Holy Spirit" will guide them; we're all very familiar with the way the "Holy Spirit" seems to tell each person something different (which is why there are dozens of different church denominations, each in bitter disagreement, despite the fact that they're all based on the very same book). |
