Default Cameron claims that Jesus wasn't resurrected MERGED w Jesus' Tomb Found MERGED X 3

"In a new documentary, Producer Cameron and his director, Simcha Jacobovici, make the starting claim that Jesus wasn't resurrected --the cornerstone of Christian faith-- and that his burial cave was discovered near Jerusalem. And, get this, Jesus sired a son with Mary Magdelene."

I think this is related to James Tabor's Jesus Dynasty theory.

You can search for Simcha Jacobivici on the Blog, and find several entries.

Default Jesus' tomb found?

Has anybody else heard of this?

The documentary, titled "The Burial Cave of Jesus," is a joint
production by Israeli-born Canadian documentary maker Simcha
Jacobovici and three-time-Oscar-winning Canadian film director James
Cameron (Titanic, The Terminator).

The 2000-year-old cave had already been discovered in 1980 in
Jerusalem's Talpiyot neighbourhood. In it were 10 coffins, six of
which bore inscriptions, which - translated into English - included
the names "Jesus son of Joseph," twice "Maria," and "Judah son of
Jesus."

The second Maria is hypothesized to be Maria Magdalene, while the
tomb bearing the name Judah could indicate Jesus had a son.

If true, the find could be one of the most significant in the
history of archeology and shake the Christian world.

But the senior Israeli archaeologist who thoroughly researched the
tombs after their discovery, and at the time deciphered the
inscriptions, cast serious doubt on it.

I'd need some damn good evidence to convince me that it's THE Jesus.

I think it's more likely that Jesus never existed than it is that his coffin remained hidden for so long.

There is already an ossuary with the name of Jesus on it.

The readiness with which Christians siezed upon that as being THE Jesus (if it was a genuine ossuary from 2,000 years ago, is matched only be the speed with which they decry the latest ossuary as being THE Jesus , although the ossuary is almost certainly genuine.

I would love this to be true. However, I'll withhold my judgment until there is full and critical scholarly review. If legitimate, it would rumble the foundation of Christianity, and it would also revolutionize anti-religious activism. It would strike down two popular and faulty propositions on Jesus:

1) Jesus resurrected and ascended.
2) Jesus started as a myth.

Simcha Jacobovici http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simcha_Jacobovici is not an archaeologist or historian, he's a film producer with an agenda, according to the WIKI he's a staunch Zionist.

According to the NT, Jesus was not in a coffin, he was wrapped with linen. And in any event, haven't the shroud of Turin been found with the supposed image of Jesus?

And if the book called Matthew is read, barring a supernatural event, there was never a body in the tomb, at any time, just some linen, that's all.
