Jesus - Gods "only" son
Here is a little argument that i haven't seen debated yet, you might use when debating or simply asking questions.
Does anyone ever wonder why Bible and theists are saying that Jesus was God's only son. For example, in John 3:16 Jesus says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Doesn't it strike you odd that god can only have one son? One only? Why? I thought that if you're almighty god, that you can do whatever you want and have as many children as you want. Hell, you could even send one son every month or even a week to pay for our sins if you want to. Also, did you notice that god and Jesus have this obsession with us humans loving them. They remind us of that whenever they find chance, that we must love them. Looks like jesus didn't get lot of loving and hugging as a kid. To me those are the words of spoiled brat and not a creator of the universe. |

that begotten worded in that verse worries me. some christians may use that word to justify Jesus position elevated amongst previous sons before Jesus is born. Not so much that he's the only son, but hence the only begotten son.
Passage Genesis 6:2: 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. Passage Genesis 6:4: 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Passage Luke 3:38: 38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. these were the only passages i could find were it a direct reference that god has personal sons. maybe someone knowledgable on the subject can be of service. kham |

For God so loved the world ... that he sent his only begotten son, along with all His other prophets, to the same little corner of the near east, thereby neglecting 99% of the planet.

God had alot of other sons and daughters.
As reflected in Genesis, when Adam ate from the tree of knowledge he became as smart as the existing gods. Later, the "sons of God" a.k.a angels fornicated with the children of Adam to create the race of giants, the Nephilim. |
