Default Theories of the universe

Would it help if we compared and contrasted various world views? I wonder if confusion is occurring because it is assumed different groups had the same views about the structure of the universe.

Who held what beliefs about the heavens earth and hell and how they were populated and related to each other?

Were they compatible? Did they change over time? What contradictions did they have between each other? How did they evolve? What did warfare and trade do to beliefs?

A few that come to mind immediately, Greek, Egyptian, Persian, Carthaginian, Celtic, Hebrew......

What views did say Paul and authors of Hebrews and Revelation hold? Are they the same?

What is this new heaven and earth? A Greek one, a Hebrew one? In my father's house are many mansions....
