I understand your point. The fact remains, I am not living "several centuries ago", I am living now and the U.S.A., fits the desciption.

I expect the same outcome for America, as Rome.

Time shall tell if, I am correct or not.

Some things never change.
Like the prophecies of Nostradamus, each age has seen its own face in the mirror of Revelation; it's so grotesque and obscure that every age can see itself in those lines. I 'd guess that a thousand years from now, when humanity is spread all over this arm of the galaxy, people will still be arguing over what those words mean!
Too many Americans think that somehow they're exempt from history, but great nations have come and gone through the ages, and the USA is greater than most of them, but it cannot last forever. Babylon had its day, and the Holy Roman Empire, and Imperial Spain; why should America be any different?

As for your expecting the "same outcome", beanpie, I might remind you that neither Babylon nor Rome fell in a single day. It took decades, and in the case of Rome, at least, it was never complete. The Eastern Empire fell only 550 years ago...when Columbus was only 7 years old!

Of course, why you want to come here and spout this nonsense is a "mystery" to me (as it was when I first heard it 25 years ago), but I'm glad you've followed Fortuna's suggestion. When you come back, tell us why you agree with it, not just quote a bunch of text and fling it at us..

2: with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and with the wine of whose fornication the dwellers on earth have become drunk."

8: The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is to ascend from the bottomless pit and go to perdition; and the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will marvel to behold the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.

CHAPTER 18, PRETTY MUCH SUMS IT UP.

I FIND IT PRETTY OBVIOUS.
Well, I don't. That scenario could apply just as well to any great city-- Constantinople in 1453, for example (which was much more Christian than Rome!), or London in 1895, when Britain owned half the planet and her armies and merchants were everywhere.
Constantinople still exists, but her inhabitants mostly adhere to another god now...and London was laid low by enemies a few decades ago, but they're all gone now...and London still stands.

Hadn't you noticed the text keeps talking about "the great city", "the mighty city"? What's that got to do with the USA, which happens to consist of many cities? (City-states are very rare in the world now; Monaco and Singapore are the only ones I can think of.) And even if you mean only one, which city? John never heard of London or New York: he would have known of Babylon, or Damascus (also a very rich and powerful city), or even Alexandria.

Like I said, many a nation has seen its evil twin in those words. Isn't it a bit arrogant to believe America must fit the prophecy?
BTW, you still haven't said why you believe it...

Edited 'cause I posted before I'd finished! Sorry.
