In psychology, this is called "projection," where an individual PROJECTS self-possessed attributes onto others.

The fact is that none of the facts support your view. The history of the Ezekiel claims are interesting...but as prophecies they fail, and only the most rabid literalists (like you and arnie and huguenot) are willing to defend "inerrancy" there...and in fact, only do so with underhanded tactics and sophomoric games.

Take a look in the mirror for "self-delusion" and quit blaming others if you feel threatened by truth.

I'm trying to locate the source of the claim that Alexander reduced it to rubble. I've just read through Arrian's description of the siege (see the third item here), but couldn't find where the stone came from. So, any idea what the literary source is?

Actually, no. It could well have originated as a historian's guess. Presumably the buildings of Ushu would have been the most readily-available source of stone, and somebody guessed or calculated that they'd need a lot of it.

I guess that's why you have now actually given up trying?

No more garbage about the mainland battle lasting 13 years?

No more attempts to pretend that "ALL Tyre's streets" actually means "all the streets EXCEPT those of Tyre itself?

No more attempts to address the fact that both Tyre and Ushu were COMPLETELY REBUILT, by the Tyrians, in defiance of the "prophecy"?

Then I accept your surrender, sugarhitman.
No, what you have accepted my friend....is your own self-delusion.
Wow, not even one of my points answered.

OK, you've surrendered.

The other thing to note is that it doesn't surprise me at all that arnoldo would cut/paste from someone else's work and not give proper attribution.

Kudos everyone.

Already thought about it more than you ever will. I'm correct.

Nebby destroy Jerusalem: Historical fact.
So? That was pretty obviously going to happen. Babylon was a mighty empire and neither Israel nor Judah were anything more than gnats on the windshield.

Quote:
Historical fact. Nebby attack mainland tyre 13 years. Check Josephus.
The problem is that the prophecy says he would attack and conquer Tyre. Last time I checked, Tyre is more than just the mainland colonies.

Oh, and the attack on the mainland did not take 13 years. The mainland was quickly steamrolled. What took 13 years was the failed siege of the island - that is the historical fact.

Prophecy fails! :rolling:

Nebby destroys mainlaind tyre. Historical fact.
Except the prophecy says he will destroy ALL of Tyre.
Prophecy fails! :rolling:

Quote:
Alexander the Great throws mainland tyre into the sea. historical fact.
Which doesn't matter, since:

1. Ezekiel names Nebuchadnezzar, not Alexander, as the person to destroy the city;
2. Not even Alexander destroyed Tyre fully;
3. Tyre recovered in less than 20 years and was a major power again.

All of which contradict Ezekiel. Prophecy fails! :rolling:

Quote:
Tyre gloated that Nebby destroyed Jerusalem. Result? Tyre was attacked by Nebby and Alexander the Great.
Result? Tyre fought Nebuchadnezzar to a standstill and was not conquered. Result? Tyre recovered from Alexander.
Result? The city was not thrown into the sea; only the rubble from the mainland colonies was.
Result? Prophecy fails! :rolling:

The only person around here revising history are you & sugarhitman.

Oh, and by the way: you've been asked about a dozen time to prove your claim that Nebuchadnezzar had no means to attack the island. For someone who runs like a coward every time that challenge comes up, you're in a poor position to be telling other people what history does or doesn't say.

The moderators have already warned you about quoting a long chunk of discussion, only to add a challenge or a bluff at the end of it.

If needed, we can get them involved again.

Unfortunately, this says nothing about rubble. It says that the harbors are under the present city.

What's more, the Britannica citation says that the Phoenician town, for the most part, is under the present-day city.

This contradicts Ezekiel, who claimed it would all be in the WATER.

Prophecy fails! :rolling:

I've seen the claim often enough before, but never with source. Pliny the Elder has a source which claims to have measured the circumference of Palae Tyre, so it would seem to have been there for the measurment. Oh well, if not Arrian, maybe Quintus Curtius Rufus has it if I can locate that text.

(If Tyre had walls 150 feet high, then it must have had a quarry.)
