Commonality Of The Christ Saviour Story
The idea that JC traveled to the orient is an old one. W. Y. Evans-Wentz made a connection between Chrtistianity origins and Buddhism. He traveled India and Tibet in the early 1900s and became a monk before being allowed to translate traditional texts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Evans-Wentz I read his books on Tibetan mysicism and Yoga back in the 70s. http://www.class.uidaho.edu/ngier/307/archetype.htm A sacred wine/bread ceremony is common. Seems more likley that the Greek influnce circa the time of JC shaped the tale early on. The tale of JC maps closley to other messianic tales prior to his day. The morphing of Buddha from a wandering monk to a deity with heavens and hells easily foreshsdows the creation of the JC myth over time. |
