I really don't want to SPECULATE. I NEED SOURCES of antiquity not imagination. In the Synoptics, Jesus TAUGHT his disciples that he would be killed and RISE on the THIRD day. I don't see anything similar in the epistle of James. I deal with SOURCES of antiquity and what is found in them. The author of the epistle under the name of James shows ZERO personal interaction with the character called Jesus Christ in James 1.1. Justin Martyr a 2nd century apologetic writer mentioned ZERO about a Jerusalem Church with a bishop known as the apostle James or James the Just and that he wrote an epistle. Another assumed LATE 2nd century writer called Irenaeus mentioned FOUR Gospels, Acts of the Apostles, the Pauline Epistles with the epistles to Timothy and did NOT mention that there was a character call James who wrote an epistle. The identity of the author called James cannot be corroborated. James is called a SERVANT of the Lord Jesus Christ. The problems with the epistle of James are numerous and was NOT accounted for by Irenaeus up to the LATE 2nd century. Since you want me to speculate, Do you know if the author of the epistle James personally knew EUSEBIUS in the 4th century? |
