Littlejohn, we had some previous discussion of these claims
here. The researchers who have made the claims, of course, will benefit from the fact that most of the people who read the newspapers are unaware of the problems and issues involved. Thousands of people will read that article and simply believe that the claims it makes are facts. Hardly any of them will read the specialized literature and learn that others have rejected the claims (as they undoubtedly will). This is hit-and-run scholarship, and nothing more.
