Some may know that Eusebius of Caesarea compiled in Greek a dictionary of biblical places (mainly Old Testament), with their locations as understood in his own time (ca. 310 AD). An English translation of this work was made in 1971 by Dr. C. Umhau Wolf, but never published. His son Noel has kindly made this available as a public domain item, and it can be found here.

St. Jerome translated the work into Latin with some additions; Dr Wolf has signalled these in the text. There is also a useful preface, and Noel Wolf has added a biography of his father (at my urging). Finally Dr. Wolf has analysed the selection of names and identified a Jewish substratum to the work.

Two very recent translations of this work exist, but these are in copyright.

I don't usually announce uploads of patristic translations here, but I think this one might be of more general usefulness.

Good news indeed, Roger. Pretty soon you will have to change the name of your site to The Anything and Anybody From Patristic Antiquity Project.

Actually I only do the other fathers as a sideline... at least, that was the idea.

I've just got hold of out-of-copyright translations of two scientific patristic texts on the astrolabe, by John Philoponus and Severus Sebokht. So these will appear in the not too distant.

Mr. Pearse, while we do have our minor philosophical disagreements, like you Believing that the Key to Life is Believing that god sacrificed himself to himself in order to put an end to a Law that He declared Eternal thereby conquering death by dying, while I, being a member of The Church Of The Holy Frisbee, adhere to it's Soul belief, that after you die you end up on the Roof, I Applaud your continuing Willingness and Effort to make more Religious information freely available to The Masses. Thank you.
