Default Was Jesus gay?

Probably been asked before, but I'm curious what BC&H folks think.

There's some question as to whether he married or not. Also the whole Mary Magdelene thing. But cetainly it would have unusual for him not to marry by the age of 30, no?

But he's also recorded as going off into the desert with a disciple or two, was it just to "pray"?

And what about John, the disciple that "Jesus loved'?

Or maybe he was bi-sexual? Or an early advocate of free love?

Since the Bible is all we have to go on I say: no where near enough evidence to even consider it. And is contradicted by non-canonical texts relating to Mary Magdalene as you admit.

There actually is extra-Biblical evidence that Jesus may have been gay:

There is insufficient evidence to say much, if anything, about an Historical Jesus if such an individual existed. Speculation about sexual orientation and other personal matters is just that, pure speculation not worthy of serious academic consideration.

There is extra biblical evidence that Jesus may have been gay, yet most atheists on this board claim there is no extra-biblical evidence that Jesus even existed... I'm confused...

Not necessarily. If Jesus was the Son of God, He had no need for marriage so I wouldn't expect Him to married. And since when does not getting married equate with being gay?

Yes, I imagine it was just to pray. Do you go out with a couple of your friends to the movies, just to "see" a movie?

If you mean John the Baptist, John was related to Jesus. And Jesus loved everyone, so hardly a case against Him being gay.

Or maybe He wasn't into sex because that wasn't His purpose on Earth /gasp

The whole Jesus was gay theory is so ridiculous its not even funny.

.
She means the disciple John, the supposed author of the 4th gospel, which continually and cryptically refers to the disciple whom Jesus particularly loved, and who rested cosily on his bosom at the Pesach dinner.

Jesus may have been written to love everyone (altho he was hard on those stupid Pharisees) but he did have his obvious favorites.

I suspect you would find that those who think there is insufficient evidence (extra-biblical or otherwise) for an HJ also reject the idea that Jesus was gay.
