Debate Topic: Can design of the universe be demonstrated from observation of the universe?
Deschain will argue in the affirmative, Jarhyn will argue in the negative. The scope of this debate extends exactly to the topic of the debate no further. It is not about whether or not LIFE is designed, or if LIFE evolved, or the nature of such a proposed designer. It is not about why a designer would be good or bad, but simply if the property of "design" belonging to the universe can be known, without the ability to observe outside the universe. The scope of the debate therefore also extends into the subject of Math and Logic. The debate will consist of TWO rounds, for a total of four posts. The participants will post alternately. Posts will be 2000 words max. Posts will be no more than one week apart. Citing outside sources is acceptable, but all statements must be supported by facts, rather than by opinions. The debate will begin with Deschain's opening statement. The Peanut Gallery can be found here. |
