This is a formal debate between Deschain and Jarhyn.
Debate Topic: Can design of the universe be demonstrated from observation of the universe? Deschain will argue in the affirmative, Jarhyn will argue in the negative. The debate thread can be found here. |

Shouldn't the PG be in the E/C forum?

No; more accurately it should be in science, philosophy, or existence of god(s).
Either way I'm still waiting on Deschain. |

I think Jo is re-arranging things, and keeping debate PGs in the Debate area.

Deschain, I am still waiting on your opening statement.
Granted I will freely admit that I engineered the topic in such a way as there is no possible valid argument for the affirmative. That was actually part of the intent of issuing the open challenge: that it is conclusive and absolutely true that it is impossible to determine if the universe was designed solely from observations within our universe, and because observations within our universe are the only kind possible, it is utterly impossible to determine that our universe is designed from within the universe, and as such arguments from universal design fail uniformly. |
