Would there be any connection between these two?One myth begats another myth?

The Atlantis Myth was a story created in Plato's Republic, I believe (I'm 90% sure it was Plato)....most likely the originallly referred to the Minoan Civilization on the island of Crete--it was a reasonably advanced civilization before the classical Greek Age we think of when we think of the Greeks. It was a story created to prove a point, that was all.

The Noah's Flood myth, on the other hand, has absolutely nothing to do with that. The Flood myth we think of most often is Noah's Flood, but that myth is almost exactly the same as the Epic of Gilgamesh with the exception of the number of God(s) in the story (Noah had his God, Gilgamesh had many).

Both Gilgamesh and Noah is pretty much assumed to have originated in the Fertile Crescent (present day Iraq)--an area dominated by two rivers and a fertile river valley between the two. The rivers would flood periodically, hence refertilizing the soil Babylon and other city-states depended on for food. Most of what we think of as "civilization" is located in that river valley--and tho those who were living there, that was the entire world.

Hence when the rivers flooded, it seemed to the people who lived there that the entire world was under water, and the myths began.

All in all, the two have very little in common, they originated in two areas geographically isolated from one another for hundreds of years, and the myths attempt to explain two very different things.
