I looked around but I couldn't find the punchline to the joke
The best I could find was: "Why was Jesus crucified?" "Because if they had electrocuted him, today, 100 million Catholics wouldn't bless themselves with a cross. They would scream "Aaaarrrgggghhh!" and shake." But seriously. The reason Jesus why there is a story of Jesus' crucification is because Dionysus was such a popular god and a parallel myth would help the new religion with the Gentiles. Plus it gives the new religion a clean break from Judaism, which is Roman times was a pretty lousy religion. A similar reason can be given for the creation of the Trinity, saints, angels, and the whole host of minor deities in Christianity.. they just fit better with the prevailing polytheism. Remember Judaism was considered 'atheistic' because they only believed in one god... who was invisible. |

What else did he say???
The fish catcher was told to pay the money as taxes. Why can't you repeat the story in the Myth Fables called Gospels??? It is just a story not an historical account. Quote:
Jesus, the Son of God, had a purse??? An EMPTY purse!!! Please, please, please the NT Canon is just a compilation of Myth Fables. In the NT Myth Fables, Jesus was so broke that his disciples PLUCKED corn EVEN on the Sabbath. Mark 2:23 KJV Quote:

http://www.earlychristianwritings.co...origen166.html "And in all their [Christian] writings (is mention made) of the tree of life, and a resurrection of the flesh by means of the 'tree,' because, I imagine, their teacher was nailed to a cross, and was a carpenter by craft; so that if he had chanced to have been cast from a precipice, or thrust into a pit, or suffocated by hanging, or had been a leather-cutter, or stone-cutter, or worker in iron, there would have been (invented) a precipice of life beyond the heavens, or a pit of resurrection, or a cord of immortality, or a blessed stone, or an iron of love, or a sacred leather! Now what old woman would not be ashamed to utter such things in a whisper, even when making stories to lull an infant to sleep?" |
