the credibility of the burial of Jesus
Unless Jesus the Christ, as described in the book called Matthew, was a supernatural being or was controlled by an external supernatural being, then the burial of Jesus the Christ was fraudulent, that is, his body was never placed in the tomb, or the story is just fiction.
In the book called Matthew, a character by the name of Jesus, son of man, aka, son of David, John the Baptist and even Elias, is placed on a cross and is crucified. Matthew 27:50, 'Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost'. Jesus, according to the author, is dead, and Joseph of Arimathaea took the body and put it a new tomb and rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre and left. (see Matthew 27:59-60 ) Now, Matthew 27:62-63, 'Now the next day.....the chief priest and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again'. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way and make it as sure as you can. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the tomb, and setting a watch, (matt 27:65-66) So we have the body of Jesus buried in a sealed tomb and under guard. What does an empty tomb mean? Fiction or fraud? |
