Question Israel is proof that the Bible is God's word

Christians often point out that the Bible predicted that the Jews would reclaim their nation. Therefore, the fact that Israel exists today is proof that the Bible prophecy is true.

Plus, everything that is going on in the world today was predicted in the Bible!

Any comments?

Where does the the bible predict that the jews would reclaim their nation.
You can point out that the prophesies of the restoration of Israel are said to have been fulfilled in the first century by none other than the apostle Peter.

Read acts chapter 2 where Peter says that Davids fallen tent is restored then in the first century....not in 1948

Stretch a text enough, and you can get it to predict Pamela Anderson" changing bust-line.

From the "stretched" text, may we predict that the aforementioned bustline is going to get bigger?

many of the biblical prophecies of a restored israel also imagines a recreated earth with unending prosperity. That is hardly an accurate prediction of Israel's economy.

. . . much of it depends on whether or not we have faith . . . and you are willing to "sacrifice" to my ministry . . . you must plant that seed of faith which will yield in cup sizes ten fold . . . a hundred fold.

Anyways, all references to Ms. Anderson's boyancy aside, there are "serious" groups who do not only believe in the prophecy, they want to have the Temple rebuilt because they believe it will bring about "the Final Conflict"--no, not the Britany versus Christina mud-pit conflict . . . unfortunately.

The book Apocalypse Pretty Soon: Travels in End-Time America discusses the "alliance" between a Christian cattle breeder and an ultra-ultra Orthodox rabbi trying to get a perfect red cow to sacrifice in Jerusalem.

I agree with the past comments. Any text can be stretched and interpreted how anyone pleases.

That's what I hate most about Christians. They think they can validate unusual things with a simple "that's your interpretation" remark. Then how do YOU interpret the hundreds of inconsistencies, errors, and contradictions in the bible, oh great Christian?

This is getting a little off-topic for BC&H, but I watch the local "Miracle Channel" for a laugh now and then. They had some silly Christian News show in which lousy whether in the US was linked to US peace initiatives in the Middle East. The bottom line: God wants Israel to be set up in fulfillment of prophecy {back on topic... cool}. Apparently the last thing God wants is a peaceful compromise with the Palestinians.

It drives me nuts to think that the lives of millions of people are just pawns in some moron's apocalyptic fantasys. It just suckles ( bouancy... hmmmm goooooood... sorry: freudian slip... )....

Since the OP appears to be rhetorical at best, and the responses have not treated the matter seriously (not to say that they should have), this thread is headed to ~Elsewhere~

You're not serious, right? With two posts to your tally, you must be - a troll or a sock puppet.

But in case I'm wrong, and you really think that Israel proves something.....funny that there are still more Jews in New York City than in Israel.

I guess that means that Manhattan, Fifth Avenue and Broadway are actually the Promised Land.

What's 2 posts got to do with anything? You've 1600+ posts but I see little knowledge of this subject from you sauron.

The Jews have for millenia been a witness to the blessing & cursings of Deuteronomy 28. Thus whether they do right or wrong, they always are witnesses to God. Their current occupation of their former homeland is a case in point so was the recent Nazi holocaust
