James Hamlyn Hill's Dissertation on Ephrem's Commentary on the Gospel at Archive.org
Here's the link: http://archive.org/stream/dissertati...e/102/mode/2up
It's worth just checking out the shape of the 'Gospel' (or a rough approximation based on the Commentary which may or may not have been written by him in part or in full). Take a look at the section of text that begins with the Question of the Rich Man followed by the Rich Man and Lazarus and which continues down to Zacchaeus. It's been noted by many people that this is the basic order of a great number of ancient witnesses (Gospel of the Hebrews etc). Even Ephrem identifies the same rich man of the Question narrative to have been in the Hell narrative. This is also inferred by Origen's citation of the Gospel of the Hebrews. Petersen and others include the Rich Fool and most of the rest of Luke 12 being just before the Question of the Rich Man which means Ephrem's Commentary is not complete. But check it out. |
