Default Most Accurate OT??

Hey guys,

What's the most accurate Old Testament. I used to think it was the JPS or Artscroll (Stone), but I'm wondering now if the OT has been de-christenized by rabbis, rather than just just the OT being christenized by jesuits. If I want to know what the original hebrew really meant, short of learning biblical hebrew myself, which has the most accurate translation of the OT? NRSV? JPS? NIV? Thanks.

How about The Holy Bible, King James Version, Edition 1611?, that's my favorite!

If it matters, read multiple versions. If they contradict, investigate.

Investigate with whom? Who is (most) impartial and objective? How substantial is the claim of anti-Christian tailoring? How about Christological biases in translation?

Investigation doesn't mean accepting upon the authority of a Christian, Jew, or atheist. It means weighing the arguments and evidence. I suggest looking for these arguments and evidence in the scholarly commentaries and, if available, academic journals. I also suggest learning enough of the original language to be able to understand these arguments after much study (which I am able to do with Greek but not really with Hebrew). This can mean that I won't know what the proper interpretation of the Hebrew Bible is if I don't put in enough study (as I do know is the case for me with some passages).

Thanks! I didn't mean to come off so abrasive, before; I just saw it as an opportunity to pick the brain of one who is far better informed than I.
