Default matthew included what he should have left out

this is how i understand Mark Goodacres argument from fatigue

mark
17 For Herod himself, having sent forth, did lay hold on John, and bound him in the prison, because of Herodias the wife of Philip his brother, because he married her,

matthew
3 For Herod having laid hold on John, did bind him, and did put him in prison, because of Herodias his brother Philip's wife,

john was

put in prison BECAUSE , `It is not lawful to thee to have her,'

mark
19 and Herodias was having a quarrel with him, and was willing to kill him, and was not able,

Short Definition: I will, wish, desire
Definition: I will, wish, desire, am willing, intend, design

matthew
5 and, willing to kill him, he feared the multitude, because as a prophet they were holding him.

Short Definition: I will, wish, desire
Definition: I will, wish, desire, am willing, intend, design.

20 for Herod was fearing John, knowing him a man righteous and holy, and was keeping watch over him, and having heard him, was doing many things, and hearing him gladly.

according to mark, herodius was unable to kill john because herod feared john and was NOT willing to kill him.

mark
22 …. `Ask of me whatever thou wilt, and I will give to thee,'

matthew
7 whereupon with an oath he professed to give her whatever she might ask.

mark
25 `I will that thou mayest give me presently, upon a plate, the head of John the Baptist.'

matthew
9 and the king was grieved, but because of the oaths and of those reclining with him, he commanded [it] to be given;

mark
26 And the king -- made very sorrowful -- because of the oaths and of those reclining (at meat) with him, would not put her away,

matthew
1.herod was willing to kill john but was unable to because he feared the multitude
2.herod forgot that he feared the multitude and went ahead and killed john
3.herod was willing to kill john because of what john had said about his marriage

mark
herod was not willing to kill john because herod feared john .
herod knew john was right

marks version makes better sense

Perhaps the author was reading the Book of Esther where Ahaseurus regretted his decision to have Vashti killed or other cases of regret for the execution of ostensibly righteous individuals.

He must have selected a different default color scheme. There is another one that has a light grey background instead of white. If you look at the bottom left edge, there is a field that says FRDB Primary. This is a color sceme. Click the drill down arrow and select FRDB After Dark. This change will make the yellow legible, if only barely.
