The Christian Delusion Book Discussion Thread
As the editor of this anthology I was curious to know what readers think of it. If you have any thoughts to share we would like to hear them.
Richard Carrier reviewed TCD on his Blog here: http://richardcarrier.blogspot.com/2...-delusion.html The official website where we will attempt to answer criticisms as they appear can be found here: http://sites.google.com/site/thechristiandelusion/ Cheers |

There are currently 12 customer reviews on Amazon, 2 of which are five star reviews by authors of the anthology being reviewed.
Lame, guys, lame. That said, I do intend to pick it up and read it myself. I have appreciated the past efforts of several contributors. |

Christian Delusion (or via: amazon.co.uk) on Amazon
I see 9 five-star reviews, one by John Loftus, plus one 3-star and one 1-star review, both by Christians (it appears one review might have been removed.) |

In order to write anything about it we must also rate it. That's what I wanted people to see up until the time the "search inside the book" is available. After that, my "review" is no longer necessary and will probably be taken down. I would appreciate a positive vote on my review for that reason, so potential buyers can see the Table of Contents. http://www.amazon.com/Christian-Delu...#R57G7E9MKTD62 If not, okay, I guess. Cheers. |

What is of interest to me is the content of these reviews along with which ones end up on the front page. The other reviews get lost in a sea of them before long that few people ever read. Cheers. |

I have a hard time taking Amazon reviews seriously. I rarely read them. I might as well engage in argument with Youtube commenters.

I agree that information on the table of contents is very useful. However, you are unethically gaming the Customer rating system by giving your own product 5 stars and encouraging people to vote it up to displace actual customer reviews. Especially when there are so few existing ratings. A middle-of-the-line three star rating along with the clear author disclaimer (which you laudably did include) would be more appropriate until Amazon puts the preview up.
Complaining that hostile folks might also try gaming the ratings is not a good justification. Anyway, I'm off to purchase your book. I do appreciate the effort you put into your work, even if I quibble about the advertising campaign. |

In any case, I look forward to what you think of the book itself, especially David Eller's chapter on morality. Cheers. |
