Default Rabbi unveils a secret of God

http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...=2008807210344

Quote:
The tradition-bound Western image of a he-man, masculine God may already be thousands of years out of date, says a Westchester rabbi who believes he has unlocked the secret to God's name and androgynous nature.

Rabbi Mark Sameth contends in a soon-to-be-published article that the four-letter Hebrew name for God - held by Jewish tradition to be unpronounceable since the year 70 - should actually be read in reverse. When the four letters are flipped, he says, the new name makes the sounds of the Hebrew words for "he" and "she."

God thus becomes a dual-gendered deity, bringing together all the male and female energy in the universe, the yin and the yang that have divided the sexes from Adam and Eve to Homer and Marge...
So, gawd is a hermaphrodite?

His article "Who is He? He is She: The Secret Four-Letter Name of God" will appear in the summer issue of the CCAR Journal, published by the Central Conference of American Rabbis, an association of Reform rabbis.
The FailedMessiah blog has a post here concerning this, with a video.

God used backward writing?

He/she really isn't very good at this code stuff, is he/she?

Leaving out the vowels and writing things backwards is a code which only takes religious people a few thousand years to crack.

They are not dumb, you know!

Default Two rhetorical questions

1. How many thousands of years did it take to figure this out?

2. Why all the restrictions/prohibitions/censures (whatever) in the Bible against women?

Steve

(.... always thought there was something funny about that god ...... never wanted to go out and just get hammered like Thor. Guess he/she was always in touch with his/her feminine side..........)

I remember hearing a preacher posit that A&E were hermaphroditic, based on that scripture.

Have a look at the whole verse:

If God created humans (that first "man" is misleading) in his own image, and he created them male and female, then God must have been of both genders. (So, no, not "They," God still was a single entity, being a bi-gender one.)

Genesis 5:2

Dont know if "Adam" is just "man"?
But the idea that A&E were a hermaphrodite is also found in the Talmud.

Im pretty sure the idea of the Creator as hermaphroditic or androgyne is one of the oldest. How else could he "create" if he didn't control both sexes? Afterall, all creation was seen as a result of the uniting of the two percieved forces of the world, male/female. After the model of the sunrays and the earth mating to create a plant. And a male and a female banging to create a new life. So in the ancient world they came up with this silly idea that the whole world was created as a result of the two complimentary opposing forces uniting in one single big bang.
Personally, I'm glad we've moved forward.

I didn't know this was a new discovery. I'd always thought they knew this anyways.
