The popular press coverage of the "Archaeoraptor" case has tried to turn the tide concerning the dinosaur-bird link hypotheses: Archaeoraptor is a clever fossil forgery fabricated in China unfortunately purchased by Stephen Czerkas at a Tucson fossil fair and published with great expectations in National Geographic (November 1999) as a valid new feathered dinosaur genus (since traces of the typical dinosaurian proto-feathery fibrous coverage were all around the specimen) .

The discovery that it was forged has been enough for many people to cast doubt on ALL the feathered dinosaurs coming from China and the general concept of dinosaurs as descendant of birds or birds as living dinosaurs.

I have posted this in the correct place! We have been discussing forgery here and I thought it would be useful to look at what forgers do!

They use real stuff and tweak it, join it together in new ways!

And actually a direct comparison between the New Testament and Archaeoraptor will be very valuable.

What do we have in the New Testament?

Revelation - a clearly Jewish apocalyptic work tweaked with the addition of a few Jesi.

Completely forged works - the psuedo Pauline stuff.

Joining works - Acts.

Works showing real gnostic bits - the gnostic Paul - with catholic bits - what we call the real Paul but should actually be seen as the heavily edited Paul.

The gospels with the synoptic problem.

Josephus with various bits that do not fit.

The gospel of John.

Hebrews.

It all reads together as some original works pushed together using various agendas depending on clearly recorded doctrinal disputes, in some ways a compromise document, similar to the treaty results at the end of a UN conference.

And the Koran makes a lot more sense within this context - haddith actually state it is a collection of sayings collected on camel bones and scraps of paper!

It might help to use techniques of forensic archaeology on this roughly tidied up rubbish dump!

A "plastic soup" of waste floating in the Pacific Ocean is growing at an alarming rate and now covers an area twice the size of the continental United States, scientists have said.
The vast expanse of debris – in effect the world's largest rubbish dump – is held in place by swirling underwater currents. This drifting "soup" stretches from about 500 nautical miles off the Californian coast, across the northern Pacific, past Hawaii and almost as far as Japan.
Charles Moore, an American oceanographer who discovered the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" or "trash vortex", believes that about 100 million tons of flotsam are circulating in the region. Marcus Eriksen, a research director of the US-based Algalita Marine Research Foundation, which Mr Moore founded, said yesterday: "The original idea that people had was that it was an island of plastic garbage that you could almost walk on. It is not quite like that. It is almost like a plastic soup. It is endless for an area that is maybe twice the size as continental United States."

And we also have clear models of how these rubbish dumps grow and form - the technical term is "strange attractor". We are on a planet with two main religious rubbish dumps, xianity and Islam.
